Open access areas in the Learning Gateway are valuable informal learning spaces e.g. for peer-to-peer conversations, time and space for reflection and for relaxation or time-out from study. Electricity points in the floor space enable users to plug in their laptops or other electronic equipment. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide natural daylight and views outside. Openable windows increase fresh air which can help with alertness and stimulating ideas.
