In 1985 I formulated a new theory of matter. In this article I will outline my reasons for doing so, and I will discuss the positive consequences of the theory for subatomic physics, for dark matter and for dark energy. I have always been proud of the fact that I studied physics at Manchester University. The physics, mathematics and astronomy departments of the university had a character that was very much in keeping with the character of science and technology of the city of Manchester itself. A scholar in Britain has acquired a 19th century diary of a gentleman involved with either the Rosicrucian Revival or the Golden Dawn's Ahathoor Temple in Paris. Much of what is written is about day-to-day activities and the interesting parts are in code. It is written in French and presumably the code is in French as well.
