We Are Our Own Time Keepers

The subject of time keeps coming up in my conversations with people. I constantly hear that time isn't like it use to be. I know time seems to move quicker as we age. All of us recall those long lazy days of childhood when a day lasted a week and a summer seemed like a lifetime. Now summer starts, we get in a swim or two, and before we know it we are covering our grills and raking up leaves. Christmas, it is here again, but wait, didn't we just pack away last years Holiday Season? There is no question time seems to be racing faster and faster. Our days seem shorter filled with more to do and less time to rest or relax. Our weeks spin into months and then years without our being able to sort out the passing days. Front page of the Ely Standard The front page of the Ely Standard, Ely, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, for August 28, 2008, carried the story that a witch by the name of Kevin Carlyon was to put a spell on the anniversary celebrations for Oliver Cromwell's death on September 6, 1658.

According to the article:

A WHITE witch is about to cast a bad weather spell on Ely's Oliver Cromwell celebrations due to take place next month. And perhaps even more controversially, the witch has told the Ely Standard that he was contacted by an Ely councillor and asked to cast a spell on the event.

Plans to mark the 350th anniversary of the Lord Protector's death on September 6 will have a spell put on tomorrow by Kevin Carlyon, a broomstick-riding chat show regular who proclaims himself high priest of the British White Witches and guru to stars such as Ruby Wax. This is the latest public in a series of curses put out by witches since the second World War curses against Hitler.

In 2006, a curse was put on Tony and Cherie Blair, for betraying Britain and the Bombing of Iraq, and now the spell to stop the Cromwell celebrations.

The accusation is that Oliver Cromwell saw and did nothing to help people from all over the country but particularly East Anglia from being imprisoned, tortured and hanged.
