Centuries came and centuries went as the pebbles trapped under the boulder listened to the few pebbles on top of the boulder laugh and play in the sunshine.

"If the other pebbles become free we will not be able to control them." The few pebbles told each other as centuries came and centuries went. The few pebbles convinced the boulder to keep the other pebbles trapped so the few would be able to control the boulder and the pebbles trapped under the boulder.

Centuries came and centuries went as Grit sat under the boulder listening to the laughter of the water droplets in the creek below them. "If I was free I would travel with you on your adventures." Grit called down to the water droplets as they raced along their way.

"We will never be free to travel with the water droplets." Grumbled the other pebbles trapped under the boulder as the centuries came and the centuries went.

Centuries came and centuries went as the water droplets in the creek below them called to the pebbles to come and travel with them as they made their long journey to the ocean.

Centuries came and centuries went as the boulder laughed at the misery of the pebbles trapped under him.

Centuries came and centuries went as the trapped pebbles under the boulder listened to the few pebbles on top of the boulder laughing and playing as they wished.

"I am going to move this boulder so we can go and play in the sunshine like the few pebbles on top of the boulder." Grit said angrily century after century. He pushed as hard as he could against the boulder as the centuries came and the centuries went.

"It is useless to try. The boulder is huge compared to us tiny pebbles. It is not possible for such tiny pebbles as us to move the huge boulder. You are crazy to even try." The other pebbles told Grit as the boulder pressed down harder on the trapped pebbles.

"You are a tiny pebble, Grit. I am a huge boulder. There is no way to move me." The boulder said as he laughed at Grits anger.

"We are the ones who control the boulder." Taunted the pebbles on top of the boulder as they called down to Grit as he pushed against the boulder.

Grit looked up in anger. "I will move the boulder and you few pebbles that keep the boulder on top of us." Grit shouted.

‘We might be small but we are many. Working together we can move the boulder." Grit shouted at the other trapped pebbles." Push with me and we can move the boulder and the few pebbles that control the boulder."

Centuries came and centuries went as the other trapped pebbles thought about Grits words.
