"I hope this finding will get people thinking about the dangers and costs of sleep deprivation," says Paul Shaw, assistant professor of neurobiology, who led the research.
"If you're feeling sleepy on your way to grandmother's house, it's much better to pull over and find a place where you can sleep for a while than to continue on and risk a serious accident."
